Coronavirus (COVID-19) policy Looking after your fitness friends!
I have put together some guidance for clients that are feeling unwell. I would like everybody to read the below and try to follow the guidelines for the protection of yourselves and your fellow exercisers.
Before I get to the nitty gritty; STAY CALM and just WASH YOUR HANDS!
Polite notice **It is very important to understand that even if you are not concerned about the virus as you believe you are fit and healthy it doesn’t mean you will not pass the virus onto someone who does have other underlying conditions that you are not aware of**
Can I politely ask that as a courtesy to each other and the community, that you do hand wash / wipe on arrival and when you leave.
Classes are on! I am still continuing with classes, but I will have emergency anti-bacterial wipes for you to use before, during and after classes. However I would encourage you to bring your own, as supplies are short for myself.
What are the signs and symptoms of this new virus? The symptoms of this new coronavirus (COVID-19) are:
a high temperature
shortness of breath
But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness. The symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.
Responsible action If you do feel unwell, please do act responsibly and stay at home until you feel better. Do not come to class. Stay at home if you have coronavirus symptoms.
If you have been on holiday to a country you know to be affected, please self isolate for 14 days. If you know you have been into contact with someone who has visited a country affected, please self isolate under the government guidelines.
Stay at home for 7 days if you have either:
a high temperature
a new continuous cough
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.
Urgent advice: Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service if:
you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home
Please advise me If it happens that you have tested positive for the virus and you have been to a class, please let me know. We may have fellow fitness friends who have their own ‘at risk’ family members that we need to think of and will appreciate being told.
How to avoid catching or spreading coronavirus ✔ Do: ✔ wash your hands with soap and water often – do this for at least 20 seconds. See hand washing guidance ✔ always wash your hands when you get home or into class ✔ use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available ✔ cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your inner elbow (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze. ✔ put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards ✔ try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell
✖ Don’t: ✖do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean
Finally… There are lots of simple immunity boosting tricks that are cheap and easy; i recommend ginger steeped in hot water, turmeric added to food or drinks, tea tree oil and colloidal silver. I’m sure your usual and regular healthy maintenance plan of not getting dehydrated and fuelling well is high on your agenda.
Thanks for your continued support and understanding. Stay well and let’s look out for each other.
If you have any questions or queries please get in touch (as long as they’re not about the coronavirus!!)
PS – As guidance is constantly being updated by Public Health England/ The NHS/ The Government, I will change these guidelines as and when necessary.
