I’m Emma. I’m a normal girl that loves life, parties and prosecco, so exercise is very much part of my lifestyle to balance things out!
I’ve spent most of my life being active and being outdoors. I’ve probably tried most sports (it’s the taking part that counts!) and have been very tempted by applying for total Wipeout and Ninja Warrior (just to have a try!) I played hockey until my mid-twenties for the county (this was my true love) and was stopped in my tracks when I developed a prolapsed disk. I spent several years without real exercise trying to manage back pain and continued to spend of my working life in the IT industry.
In 2005, after the birth of my daughter, I knew I wanted to get back in shape, get rid of my prolapse and enjoy exercise again. It was both a mental and physical task. I wanted to spend time as a Mum and have a change of scenery, so I left the IT world and decided to train as a fitness instructor specialising in ante and postnatal exercise prescription.
I quickly realised that I found my new role extremely rewarding and wanted to branch out into other areas of the fitness arena and have been teaching for 10 years. I also managed to restore my back to its former self where running and jumping cause no issue and am proud to have completed half marathons, hell runners and obstacle courses. I love meeting new people and helping them achieve their goals, whatever they may be. I work with a wide variety of ages and abilities and put great emphasis on technique, along with ensuring that sessions are challenging, there are adaptations for those that need them and everyone feels included.
My classes are open to men and women and I like provide fresh, fun and varied classes that make you feel you’ve had an effective workout. I think that life is about balance, not denying yourself what you enjoy, having a little of what you fancy and I fully believe in work hard, play harder!
